Stress Therapy

Worry and stress can feel as if they’re in the driver’s seat of our life. Stress arises from external events like financial issues, while anxiety is an internal experience characterized by persistent feelings of dread or worry, often about minor concerns. Stress typically diminishes after the situation resolves, but anxiety can persist even without a current stressor.

How Stress Therapy Works with us

We have found that providing language for overused phrases can help the brain process stress more effectively. Stress often indicates that we are in overdrive and can manifest in various ways, including:

- Insomnia or disrupted sleep

- Racing thoughts

- Teeth grinding or jaw clenching

- Muscle tension

- Headaches and brain fog

- Digestive issues or loss of appetite

Stress can result from external situations like work and relationships, or from individual and collective trauma. This can lead to irritability, anxiety, or depression, which are often interconnected.

If you'd like to speak with one of our therapists, please visit our contact page to arrange a 15 to 20-minute consultation. We’ll discuss any questions and schedule your sessions. After the consultation, we will send you paperwork to complete before your sessions begin!

Stress FAQs

  • Stress often stems from external events that trigger negative beliefs and fears. While some stress can be motivating, persistent stress requires attention.

When you can’t eliminate stressors like work deadlines or significant decisions, try these strategies to nurture your mind and body:

    - Practice mindfulness exercises, such as body scans or boxed breathing

    - Engage in yoga or physical activities to clear your mind

    - Take walks with a friend or a pet

    - Break tasks into smaller, manageable portions

These approaches can help you cope with stress more effectively.

  • It’s never too early to seek support for stress.

Everyone experiences stress at some point in their lives. It's important to find strategies that work for you and your unique situation. If stress is not addressed, it can shift from being manageable to chronic. Fortunately, stress is treatable, and addressing it early on makes treatment easier.

  • Finding the right therapist is crucial for effectively managing your stress. Although it may take some time, you should aim to build a supportive and authentic relationship with your therapist, where you feel safe and accepted. You deserve to thrive, rather than just survive or “get through” challenges.
